If Michael Jackson is the reason you’re going, you don’t have to wait until February. Edmonton has two November dates for Candlelight: Tribute to Michael Jackson, which brings Cerberus Music’s string quartet to McDougall Auditorium for a 60-minute concert.

The listed programme includes Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Human Nature and Thriller. If you know the records well, the appeal is hearing how their melodies and rhythms translate to strings. Come curious about the arrangements. This is a preview based on the event listing; we haven’t reviewed the performance.

You can go before February.

Make a little room for the building.

McDougall is part of the reason to make this a downtown evening. The brick church opened in 1910, and its provincial heritage record describes a high vaulted ceiling and a U-shaped balcony designed to give people a view of the service. It also records the building’s long life as a cultural venue, hosting music as well as public gatherings.

You may see the venue called McDougall United Church in older listings and McDougall Auditorium on Fever. Use the MacDonald Drive address below when planning your route.

The details that make the evening easier.

  • Find it: McDougall Auditorium, 10086 MacDonald Drive NW. The venue’s own page uses the same address.
  • Arrive early: doors open 45 minutes before the music; late admission isn’t allowed. Seats are allocated by arrival order within your ticket zone.
  • Check access: Fever lists wheelchair access, but Zone C is a balcony. Confirm the right zone and entrance with Fever support if stairs are a concern.
  • Bringing children: ages eight and up; under-16s need an adult.

The November 20 performance suits an earlier evening. For either 8:45 p.m. session, allow time for dinner and aim to be at the venue when doors open. Fever lists no on-site parking; leave time to park elsewhere or plan your transit connection.

Read the price after the fee.

As checked, a November 7 Zone C ticket was C$39.50 plus C$3.16 booking fee: C$42.66. Prices vary by date and zone. Confirm the final checkout total before paying.
